The safety and well-being of every Comets athlete is our top priority. We want players to train, compete, and grow in an environment that is positive, safe, and supportive. To that end, Comets Fastpitch follows national best practices and requires every coach and volunteer to meet the highest safety standards.
Comets Fastpitch is committed to building a sports community free of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse and misconduct. We follow the policies of USA Softball and the SafeSport Foundation, which provide training, screening, reporting, and monitoring to keep athletes safe.
Every coach and volunteer must:
Complete SafeSport Training annually
Complete the CDC Heads Up Concussion Training
We also encourage parents and players to take advantage of free SafeSport resources:
Parents’ Guide to Misconduct in Sport — ~30 minutes
SafeSport for Kids (ages 5–12) — ~15 minutes
SafeSport for Youth Athletes (ages 13–17) — ~20 minutes
All Comets coaches and volunteers maintain current CDC Heads Up Concussion Training certification. In addition, we ask all families to review the age-appropriate CDC concussion fact sheets:
Comets Fastpitch has embraced the TrueSport mission to change the culture of youth sports by teaching life skills and core values. We believe sports should prepare athletes not just for the game, but for life.
The three TrueSport cornerstones are at the heart of our coaching:
Sportsmanship — Respect and gratitude for teammates, coaches, parents, and competitors.
Character & Life Skills — Building perseverance, leadership, goal-setting, and decision-making through the game.
Clean & Healthy Performance — Encouraging wellness-centered lifestyles that fuel athletic and personal success.
?? At Comets Fastpitch, safety is more than a requirement — it’s part of who we are. We want every athlete to grow not only as a player, but as a healthy, confident young person.
